WordPress is a great website platform because of its power and flexibility. But when you’re planning your website, there’s the choice of a hosted WordPress site (what we do) and getting a sub-domain on WordPress.com (example: mickeymouse.wordpress.com). There are choices to make, so let us help you with the decision.

Here’s what WordPress.com offers:

  • It’s free, and setup is pretty easy.
  • You don’t have to maintain your site and it’s always available.
  • Backups are done automatically.
  • You’ll get extra traffic from being a part of the WordPress.com community.

Here’s what WordPress.com doesn’t offer:

  • WordPress.com limits you to a blog only.
  • Although you can customize your site, you can’t use a custom theme.
  • You can’t modify the coding behind your site.
  • You can’t upload WordPress plugins, which can limit the visibility, speed and reliability of your site.

In addition, having a subdomain on WordPress.com can be detrimental to your branding, and limit the flexibility of your site.

The advantages of a self-hosted WordPress site (or, what we give you):

  • You get a fully-fledged website, including galleries, a contact page, social media integration, even a blog if you choose. The sky’s the limit.
  • You get your own domain name (which we renew for you).
  • Your site is professionally installed and designed before we train you how to add and delete content yourself.
  • You can upload custom-designed themes.
  • You can ask us to install any WordPress plugins you wish, which can improve the speed, visibility, functionality, and stability of your site.
  • We can customize the code for you (HTML, CSS and PHP script) if needed.
  • We keep an eye out on WordPress and Theme updates, and we install them for you.
  • We do periodic backups of your database.
  • Most importantly, you can turn to us if you have and questions or problems.
